I have watched hours of Home and Garden Television redesign home shows while at my sister’s house this week. I just peeled myself away from a show while my sister takes a half hour nap. Why do I watch so many of these shows? I finally stopped and thought about it and discovered an answer: I love watching something go from yuck to wow. And, when this is done in half an hour it is extra wonderful. Oh, and when three rooms are redecorated, repainted, refurnished practically (as was just done) for under a thousand dollars! Wooo Hooo!
Transformation is so awesome. The most wonderful transformation is when people who are not living for God, start living for God. Now that is the biggest woooo hooo. One starts to see the fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. And more than that is how we look in God’s eyes; when we repent of our sins and believe in Jesus, God can now be in our presence because we have accepted His Son He washes away our filthiness and makes us white as snow. (Isaiah 64:6, Psalm 51:7b).
Now, God's love can be freely accepted and when Jesus is accepted as Lord and Savior we are washed clean in an instant. However, our transformation will go on for the rest of our lives. He is Savior, because He makes us presentable to God and saves us from hell. He is Lord, because He has authority over everything (Matthew 28:18). When we truly accept Jesus we have finally come to believe in Him and given Him the authority that we chose to take for ourselves for years. It may be difficult to give up some things that are not in accordance with living a Christ like life, but the life he wants for us is truly an abundant life, full of peace and joy.
What an awesome God! He came down from heaven to die for us so that we could be washed in His perfect blood and be made new to Him. With Him in the driver’s seat of our life (when we read His word and abide by it, continually asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit) we have the best life, a life filled with love, bearing His fruit. How wonderful it will be the day I can see Him and thank Him face to face. Until then, I am excited to see the transformation Jesus will do in my life and the lives of many others.
Lord, please help me be transformed everyday, more and more like you. Please fill me with Your Spirit and Your love so that I may bring others to You. Thank You for providing forgiveness and newness in You for all those who accept and follow You. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17.
