Blessings of 2006
January~ The Wisdom Exchange mentoring program started. Being with girls between the ages of 8-18 every weekday afternoon: wonderful madness.
February~ I made an outward demonstration of what I chose to believe on July 17, 2005. I was baptized, which symbolizes how Jesus' sinless blood washes away sin and makes one presentable to God. It also symbolizes that I died to my self-directed life and choose to live a Christ-directed life. Jesus said it best: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6.
March~ My friend, Kristi, and I went to Mexico City and the nearby state of Morelos
Li, my college roommate, came to visit! It was great to spend 24 hours a day with her again. We had fun, especially during a 27 hour non-stop road trip through the southwest, incluiding the Grand Canyon (right). We danced on the Hoover Dam.
April~ Kristi and I lead a Bible study for girls who attended an abstinence program. One of the girls told us she had been raped by her father. I reassured her that her father was twisted, told her that Jesus knew how she felt because He too was abandoned by those he loved, and God her Father in heaven loved her. She became a Christian and a week later she said she stopped cutting herself. What an awesome God!
May~ Wisdom Exchange ended. We went to San Diego's science museum—good times.
June-August~ Summer trip! I got to stay with family in Spain, visit friends and make
new ones, see new places, and try different things. I traveled through Spain and Florence (left) with my sister. Then, I traveled solo to other cites in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, and France. One of the final parts in my trip was the best: a two week mission trip in London. I was blessed to stay with a wonderful family there and in Switzerland (my favorite country—gorgeous).September~ Wisdom Exchange was restarted and I updated my blog: www.livingluzly.blogspot.com
October~ I attended a women's retreat where God touched the lives of many women, including mine.
November~ My brother, Miguel, came back from Bible college in Peru. Thanksgiving was nice; I made a homemade contribution for the first time: pies and ham. I started to substitute teach. I accepted the assignment to teach math and social studies for 6th graders for two weeks. A student asked, “Why are you here? We are bad kids.” God gave me these words, “You are not bad kids. You are good kids, you just make
bad choices.”
December~ My family finally celebrated one of the three kids' birthday together (right). Miguel turned 30! My five year old computer died. I am starting to learn how to play the guitar. More than anything right now, I am excited to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
